Hartland Abbey – Built in the 12th Century, Hartland Abbey survived as a monastery longer than any other in the country. In 1539 Henry VIII gifted the Abbey to the Keeper of his Wine Cellar and today the house still remains in the Stucley family. Enjoy the walk to the Atlantic cove and cottage at Blackpool Mill, the location for the BBC adaptation of ‘Sense and Sensibility’ and drama production, ‘The Night Manager’
Chambercombe Manor – Steeped in history and legend & mentioned in the Domesday book.
Chambercombe Manor was owned by the Champernon family from around 1162. In the early 16th century it became the property of Henry Duke of Suffolk father of the ill fated Lady Jane Grey.
Watersmeet House – A fishing lodge, built c.1832 in a picturesque valley on the East Lyn and Hoar Oak Water. A tea room& tea-garden since 1901 (now run by the National Trust) and is the focal point for several beautiful walks.
